Privacy policy

The short version: the site is for reading. It does not sell data or track you across other sites.

What the site stores

Your language and light-or-dark choice are kept in your own browser (local storage) so the site remembers them. They never leave your device. No account is needed to read or search. Your recent searches are kept the same way, in your browser only. So are your reading history, bookmarks, reader layout and page position (the Library page): they stay in this browser and you can clear them there or by clearing site data.

Visit statistics

To learn how the site is used, it counts page views and simple actions (such as searches, copying a narration, or changing a setting). This uses no cookies and stores no IP address or raw browser details. A short random session code lives only in your browser tab (session storage) and disappears when you close it. A visitor is a one-way code made from your IP address and browser, mixed with the date, so it changes every day and cannot be traced back to you or linked across days. We record the page, the site you came from, your country and city, device type, browser, how long you stayed and how far you scrolled, and the words of a search. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is recorded. This data is kept for about three months, is seen only by the editors, and is never sold or shared.

Search

When you search, the words you type are sent to the server to find matching narrations, verses and pages, and to an AI model (DeepSeek) that writes a short summary from those results only. We log each search with your IP address, to limit how many AI summaries one address can request, to reuse summaries for repeated searches, and to improve the archive; after 30 days the IP address is removed from the log. The same applies to AI draft translations of a narration. AI requests pass through Cloudflare AI Gateway, which keeps a log of each question sent to the AI and the answer it gave, without your IP address, so we can check answer quality and cost; these logs are kept for a limited time and then deleted. We never sell or share these logs. Earlier, the Ask feature asked for a name and email; if you gave them and want them deleted, write to us through the Contact page.

Reports

When you send a report from the Contact page, we store what you wrote, the page you came from, and your IP address (to limit how many reports one address can send; it is removed after 30 days). A name and email are optional and used only to reply to you. Reports are read only by the editors and are never sold or shared.

Logs and hosting

The site runs on Cloudflare. Standard server logs (such as a request's time and a coarse location) may be kept briefly to run the service and stop abuse, then dropped. There are no advertising trackers.

Other services your browser contacts

Some features load files from other providers, which then see your IP address and browser details under their own policies: Google Fonts (fonts), Cloudflare Turnstile (a bot check on forms), EveryAyah (Quran recitation audio), and NASA and EOX (satellite map tiles on the atlas). Share buttons (WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn) are plain links and send nothing until you click one. None of these are advertising trackers.

Your choices and deletion

You can clear everything kept in your browser at any time. Turn on Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control and visit statistics stop. To ask us to delete a report, a search log entry or an old Ask name and email, write to us through the Contact page (mail@alfitan.com) and describe it. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date below changes with it. Questions go to the Contact page.
