صلى بنا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم صلاة العصر نهارا، ثم خطب إلى أن غابت الشمس، فلم يدع شيئا هو كائن إلى يوم القيامة إلا حدثنا به، حفظه من حفظه، ونسيه من نسيه

The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, led the Asr prayer with us during the day, then he delivered a sermon until the sun went down. He did not leave anything that would happen until the Day of Resurrection without narrating it to us. He who memorized it memorized it, and he who forgot it forgot it.

إن الله رفع لي الدنيا فأنا أنظر إليها وإلى ما هو كائن فيها إلى يوم القيامة كما أنظر إلى كفي هذه، جيلان من الله جلاه لنبيه كما جلا للنبيين قبله

Allah has raised this world for me, so I look at it and what will be in it until the Day of Resurrection as I look at these palms of my own: two generations from Allah that He revealed to His Prophet as He revealed to the prophets before him.

أنا أعلم الناس بكل فتنة هي كائنة إلى يوم القيامة، وما بي أن يكون رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أسر إلي في ذلك شيئا لم يحدث به غيري، ولكن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم حدث مجلسا أنا فيه عن الفتن التي تكون منها صغار، ومنها كبار، فذهب أولئك الرهط كلهم غيري

I am the most knowledgeable of people about every temptation that will occur until the Day of Resurrection, and what is wrong with me is that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, confided to me something that no one else told me about, but the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, told a gathering I was in about temptations, some of which were minor and some of which were major, so all of those groups went away except me.

تكون فتن كقطع الليل المظلم، يتبع بعضها بعضا، تأتيكم مشتبهة كوجوه البقر، لا تدرون أيها من أي

There will be temptations like pieces of the dark night, one after the other. They will come to you like the faces of cows, and you will not know which one is from what.

هذه فتن قد أظلت كجباه البقر، يهلك فيها أكثر الناس إلا من كان يعرفها قبل ذلك

These are temptations that have spread like the foreheads of cows, in which most people will perish except those who knew about them before that

إذا تقارب الزمان أناخ بكم الشرف الجون، فتن كقطع الليل المظلم

When time draws near, honor will overwhelm you with temptations like pieces of a dark night

نعم، أيما أهل بيت من العرب أو العجم أراد الله بهم خيرا أدخل عليهم الإسلام قال: ثم مه؟ قال: ثم تكون فتن كأنها الظلل فقال الرجل: كلا والله، إن شاء الله يا رسول الله، فقال رسول الله: بلى، والذي نفسي بيده، ثم لتعودن فيها أساود صبا، يضرب بعضكم رقاب بعض قال الزهري: الأسود الحية إذا نهشت نزت ثم ترفع رأسها ثم تنصب

Yes, whether the family of a household, whether Arab or non-Arab, Allah wants good for them, He admits Islam to them. He said: Then what? He said: Then there will be tribulations as if they were shadows, and the man said: No, by Allah, Allah willing, O Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah said: Yes, by the One in whose hand is my soul. Then you will return to it black in the morning, striking each other’s necks. Al-Zuhri said: When lions bite, they emerge, then raise their heads and then stand up.

نحو ذلك

Al-Walid bin Muslim told us, on the authority of Al-Awza’i, on the authority of Abd al-Wahid bin Qays, on the authority of Urwa bin Al-Zubayr, on the authority of Karz bin Alqamah, on the authority of the Prophet, ﷺ, and something similar.

قال أعرابي: يا رسول الله

Ibn al-Mubarak told us, on the authority of Muammar, on the authority of al-Zuhri, on the authority of Urwa ibn al-Zubayr, on the authority of Karaz ibn Alqamah, with a similar hadith of Sufyan, except that he said: A Bedouin said: O Messenger of Allah

إن بين يدي الساعة لهرجا قالوا: وما الهرج؟ قال: القتل والكذب قالوا: يا رسول الله، قتل أكثر مما يقتل الآن من الكفار؟ قال: إنه ليس بقتلكم للكفار، ولكن يقتل الرجل جده وأخاه وابن عمه

Indeed, before the Hour there is a commotion. They said: What is the commotion? He said: Murder and lying. They said: O Messenger of Allah, more infidels were killed than are being killed now? He said: It is not your killing of infidels, but rather a man killing his grandfather, his brother, and his cousin

ليكونن من أهل الإسلام بين يدي الساعة الهرج والقتل، حتى يقتل الرجل جده وابن عمه وأباه وأخاه، وايم الله، لقد خشيت أن تدركني وإياكم

They will be among the people of Islam at the hands of the hour of chaos and killing, until a man kills his grandfather, his cousin, his father, and his brother. By Allah, I was afraid that it would catch up with you and me.

إن بعدكم فتنا كقطع الليل المظلم، يصبح الرجل فيها مؤمنا ويمسي كافرا، ويمسي مؤمنا ويصبح كافرا

It was narrated from Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:“Before the Hour comes, there will be tribulation like pieces of black night, when a man will wake up as a believer but be a disbeliever by evening, or he will be a believer in the evening but will be a disbeliever by morning. And the one who is sitting will be better than the one who is standing, and the one who is standing will be better than the one who is walking, and the one who is walking will be better than the one who is running. So break your bows, cut their strings and strike your swords against rocks, and if anyone enters upon anyone of you, let him be like the better of the two sons of Adam. (i.e. the one killed, not the killer).”

بين يدي الساعة فتن كقطع الليل المظلم، يمسي الرجل فيها مؤمنا ويصبح كافرا، ويصبح مؤمنا ويمسي كافرا، يبيع أحدهم دينه بعرض من الدنيا قليل

At the hands of the Hour there is temptation like pieces of a dark night. A man will be a believer in the evening and become an unbeliever, and he will be a believer in the morning and be a disbeliever in the evening. Someone will sell his religion for a small offer of this world.

هذه فتن قد أظلت كقطع الليل المظلم، كلما ذهب منها رسل بدا رسل آخر، يصبح الرجل فيها مؤمنا ويمسي كافرا، ويمسي مؤمنا ويصبح كافرا، يبيع فيها أقوام دينهم بعرض من الدنيا قليل

Anas bin Malik narrated that the Messenger of Allah(s.a.w) said:"Before the Hour there shall be Fitan like a portion of the dark night. Morning will come upon a man as a believer, who will be a disbeliever in the evening, and evening will come upon a believer, who will be a disbeliever in the morning, people will sell their religion for goods of the world

إن الفتنة راتعة في بلاد الله، تطأ في خطامها، لا يحل لأحد أن يوقظها، ويل لمن أخذ بخطامها قال أبو الزاهرية: وقال عبد الله بن عمر: وإنكم لن تروا من الدنيا إلا بلاء وفتنة، ولن تزداد الأمور إلا شدة

Sedition is rampant in Allah's country, it is taking its toll, and it is not permissible for anyone to awaken it. Woe to whoever takes hold of its snare. You will not see in this world anything but calamity and strife, and matters will only increase in severity.

ما من صاحب فتنة يبلغون ثلاثمائة إنسان إلا ولو شئت أن أسميه باسمه واسم أبيه ومسكنه إلى يوم القيامة ، كل ذلك مما علمنيه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ، قالوا: بأعيانها؟ قال: أو أشباهها، يعرفها الفقهاء، أو قال: العلماء، إنكم كنتم تسألون رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عن الخير وأسأله عن الشر، وتسألونه عما كان، وأسأله عما يكون

There is no one who is involved in a temptation that reaches the size of three hundred people, but if I wanted to call him by his name, his father’s name, and his residence until the Day of Resurrection, all of that is what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me. They said: With its specific meanings? He said: Or something like it, known to the jurists, or he said: The scholars. You used to ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about goodness, and I would ask him about evil, and you would ask him about what was, and I would ask him about what would be.

ليخرجن من أمتي ثلاثمائة رجل معهم ثلاثمائة راية، يعرفون وتعرف قبائلهم، يبتغون وجه الله، يقتلون على الضلالة

Three hundred men will emerge from my nation, carrying three hundred banners, who know and know their tribes, seeking the face of Allah, and will be killed for misguidance.

لو حدثتكم بكل، ما أعلم ما رقبتم بي الليل

If I told you everything, I don't know if you would have watched me at night

لا تزالوا في بلاء وفتنة، ولا يزداد الأمر إلا شدة، فإذا لم يل الوالي لله، ولم يؤد المولى عليه طاعة الله، فأوشكوا بكره الله، فإن كره الله أشد من كره الناس

You will continue to be in tribulation and temptation, and the matter will only increase in severity. If the ruler does not obey Allah, and the one who is in charge of him does not obey Allah, then they are on the verge of hating Allah, for Allah’s hatred is worse than people’s hatred.

هل تخافون من شيء؟ قالوا: نخاف الطلب ، قال: فقلت: إن الطلب لا يدرك إلا أخريات الناس، قالوا: صدقت، إنه لم يكن نهب قط إلا كان له طلب، وإن الناس لم يصيبوا نهبا قط أعظم من الإسلام، وإن الفتنة تطلبه، وإنها لا تدرك إلا أخريات الناس

Are you afraid of anything? We fear demand. You are right, there has never been plunder without it having a demand, and people have never been afflicted with plunder greater than Islam, and strife seeks it, and it is only attained by the last of the people.

ترسل على الأرض الفتن إرسال القطر

Sending temptations on earth, sending rain

لما قص الله تعالى على موسى عليه السلام شأن هذه الأمة تمنى أن يكون رجلا منهم، فقال الله: يا موسى، إنه يصيب آخرها بلاء وشدة ، قال أحدهما: من الفتن، فقال موسى: يا رب، ومن يصبر على هذا؟ قال الله: إني أعطيتهم من الصبر والإيمان ما يهون عليهم البلاء

When Allah Almighty told Moses (peace be upon him) the story of this nation, he wished he were a man from them, so Allah said: O Moses, the end of it will be afflicted with tribulation and hardship. One of them said: From temptations, so Moses said: O Lord, who can be patient with this? Allah said: I have given them patience and faith to make the affliction easier for them

ستكون فتن في أمتي حتى يفارق الرجل فيها أباه وأخاه، حتى يعير الرجل ببلائه كما تعير الزانية بزناها

There will be tribulations in my nation until a man is separated from his father and brother, until a man is reproached for his calamity just as an adulteress is reproached for her adultery.

أتتكم الفتن ديما كديم المطر

Trials always come to you like heavy rain

هل ترون ما أرى؟ إني لأرى مواقع الفتن خلال بيوتكم كمواقع القطر

Usama reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) climbed up a battlement amongst the battlements of Medina and then said:You do not see what I am seeing and I am seeing the places of turmoil between your houses as the places of rainfall
