[সংকলন ও সূত্র]: এটি সুনানে দারিমি-এর 3003 নম্বর হাদিস।

[মূল বিষয়বস্তু]: কিয়ামতের আলামতগুলোর একটি: ইলম উঠিয়ে নেওয়া হবে এবং অজ্ঞতা ছড়িয়ে পড়বে। এখানে ইলম মানে দ্বীনের বুঝ ও সঠিক সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়ার প্রজ্ঞা, যা আল্লাহ দান করেন এবং আলেমরা বহন করেন।

[বর্ণিত বৈশিষ্ট্য]: আল্লাহ মানুষের বুক থেকে ইলম ছিনিয়ে নেন না; তিনি আলেমদের উঠিয়ে নেওয়ার মাধ্যমে ইলম উঠিয়ে নেন। যখন কোনো আলেম থাকবে না, মানুষ অজ্ঞদের নেতা বানাবে, তারা না জেনে ফতোয়া দেবে, নিজেরা পথভ্রষ্ট হবে এবং অন্যদেরও পথভ্রষ্ট করবে।

[Described Characteristics]: Allah does not snatch knowledge out of people's chests; He takes it by taking the scholars. When no scholar is left, people take ignorant men as leaders, who give rulings without knowledge, go astray and lead others astray.

[উমর ইবনুল খাত্তাব ও আবদুল্লাহ ইবনে আমর (রা.)] (সহিহ বুখারি ১০০; ফাতহুল বারি, সহিহ বুখারি ৭৩০৭-এর ব্যাখ্যা): ইলম মানুষের অন্তর থেকে ছিনিয়ে নেওয়া হবে না; আলেমদের তুলে নেওয়ার মাধ্যমে ইলম তুলে নেওয়া হবে, শেষে অজ্ঞ নেতারা থাকবে যারা না জেনে ফতোয়া দেবে। উমর (রা.): 'ইলম তুলে নেওয়া মানে আলেমদের চলে যাওয়া'।

[ইমাম ইবনে বাত্তাল (ইবনে হাজারের ব্যাখ্যাসহ)] (ফাতহুল বারি, সহিহ বুখারি ৭০৬১-এর ব্যাখ্যা): ইবনে বাত্তাল বলেছেন, তাঁর যুগে ইলম কমে গেছে। ইবনে হাজার: তা ছিল শুরু; হাদিসের উদ্দেশ্য এমন অবস্থা, যখন কেবল নিছক অজ্ঞতা থাকবে, আর অল্প কিছু আলেম মানুষের ভিড়ে হারিয়ে থাকবেন।

[আল্লামা মুহাম্মাদ আল-বারযানজী] (আল-ইশাআ লি-আশরাতিস সাআ, অধ্যায় ২: যে আলামত প্রকাশ পেয়েছে কিন্তু শেষ হয়নি): 'ইলম তুলে নেওয়া হবে' (ইবনে আবি শাইবায় ইবনে মাসউদ (রা.)-এর বর্ণনা থেকে) তিনি এই আলামতগুলোর অন্তর্ভুক্ত হিসেবে উল্লেখ করেছেন। পরিচ্ছেদের শেষে তিনি বলেন: এই আলামতগুলো 'সবই বিদ্যমান, এবং দিন দিন বাড়ছে'।

[Umar ibn al-Khattab & Abdullah ibn Amr (RA)] (Sahih al-Bukhari 100; Fath al-Bari on Sahih al-Bukhari 7307): Knowledge is not snatched out of people's hearts; it is taken by taking the scholars, until ignorant leaders are left who give rulings without knowledge. Umar: 'the taking of knowledge is the passing of the scholars'.

[Imam Ibn Battal (with Ibn Hajar's commentary)] (Fath al-Bari, on Sahih al-Bukhari 7061): Ibn Battal said knowledge had decreased in his time. Ibn Hajar: that was the beginning; the narration means the state in which only pure ignorance is left, with a few scholars lost among the people.

[Allamah Muhammad Al-Barzanji] (al-Isha'a li-Ashrat al-Sa'a, ch. 2: signs that have appeared and not ended): Lists 'knowledge is seized' (from a report of Ibn Mas'ud in Ibn Abi Shaybah) among these signs. He closes the chapter: these signs 'all exist, and increase day by day'.
