It was narrated from Abu Bakr bin Abu Zuhair Ath-Thaqafi, that his father said:“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) addressed us in Nabawah” or Banawah-he (one of the narrators) said: “Nabawah is near Ta’if”-“And said: ‘Soon you will be able to tell the people of Paradise from the people of Hell.’ They said: ‘How O Messenger of Allah?’ He said: ‘By praise and condemnation. You are Allah’s witnesses over one another.’”

[Collection & Reference]: Narration #4221 in Sunan Ibn Majah.

[Isnad Grading & Assessment]: Scholar verdicts : Al-Albani: Sahih | Muhammad Fouad Abd al-Baqi: Hasan | Shuaib Al Arnaut: Sahih Lighairihi | Zubair Ali Zai: Isnaad Hasan.

[Core Subject]: Jannah, Paradise, is the eternal home of the believers: 'what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no heart has imagined'.

[Described Characteristics]: Gardens with rivers of water, milk, honey and pure drink; a hundred levels, the highest al-Firdaws under the Throne. No illness, no ageing, no sorrow, no death. Its greatest joy is seeing Allah, and His saying: 'I am pleased with you and will never be displeased with you after this.'

[Timeline & Context]: After the Bridge, the believers enter it forever. Paradise already exists now.

[Prophetic Practice]: 'When you ask Allah, ask for al-Firdaws.'

[Core Subject]: Jahannam, Hellfire, is the abode of punishment for those who rejected Allah and for whom He decrees it. Believers who enter it for their sins are eventually brought out; the disbelievers remain.

[Described Characteristics]: Our fire is one of seventy parts of its heat. Its fuel is people and stones. It has seven gates. The lightest punishment in it is a man with embers under his feet that make his brain boil.

[Timeline & Context]: People enter it after the judgment. Like Paradise, it already exists now.

[Prophetic Practice]: 'Protect yourselves from the Fire, even with half a date in charity.' And ask: 'Our Lord, avert from us the punishment of Hell.'
