Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:The Last Hour would not come until the women of the tribe of Daus would be seen going round Dhi al-Khalasa (for worship) and Dhi al-Khalasa is a place in Tabala, where there was a temple in which the people of the tribe of Daus used to worship the idol

Scholarly Commentary & Context
Synthesized commentary, isnad grading & cross-references[Collection & Reference]: Narration #2906 in Sahih Muslim.
[Authenticity & Isnad]: Authentic (Sahih) by consensus of the scholars through its inclusion in the Sahihayn.
[Core Subject]: The Hour (al-Sa'ah) is the moment this world ends. Everything alive dies, the universe is undone, and then comes the resurrection. The Quran mentions it again and again, and the Prophet ﷺ spoke of the signs that come before it.
[Described Characteristics]: It comes suddenly, while people are busy with their lives: one man is selling cloth, another is fixing his water trough, another is lifting food to his mouth, and none of them finishes. Before it come signs, small ones that spread slowly and ten great ones that come close together.
[Timeline & Context]: Only Allah knows. The Quran says its knowledge is with Him alone, and when Jibril asked the Prophet ﷺ, he answered: the one asked knows no more than the one asking. Any date or countdown contradicts this.
[Prophetic Practice]: A man asked, 'When is the Hour?' The Prophet ﷺ asked back, 'What have you prepared for it?' The real question is our own preparation, not the date.
[Core Subject]: Before the Hour some tribes of the ummah will join the idolaters and worship idols again.
[Described Characteristics]: The women of the tribe of Daws will sway their hips again around Dhu al-Khalasah, an idol they worshipped before Islam. Al-Lat and al-Uzza will be worshipped again.
[Timeline & Context]: The return of al-Lat and al-Uzza comes after the gentle wind has taken the believers.
[Prophetic Practice]: Tawhid must be learned and taught to every generation; it is never automatic.

Attributed Scholarly Views
Attributed classical explanations from Ibn Hajar, al-Nawawi, Ibn Kathir & more[Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani] (Fath al-Bari, on Sahih al-Bukhari 7116): Explains that near the end some of the Arabs will revert to worshipping idols, as in the hadith of the women of Daws circling Dhu al-Khalasa, and that this follows the removal of knowledge and the taking of the souls of the believers by a gentle wind; he places it among the events still awaited.
