Kitab al-Fitan of Nu'aym ibn Hammad: ungraded, and weak overall. Never established on its own.

If temptation was presented to the hearts, then any heart that denies it the first time will have a white spot on it, and any heart that does not deny it will have a black spot on it. Then it will be a tribulation and it will be presented to the hearts. If the one who denied it the first time denies it, a white spot will be on it, and if the one who did not deny it the first time does not deny it, a black spot will be made on it. Then it will be a temptation and it will be presented to the hearts, and if the one who denied it twice denies it, it will be on him. A white spot, and the description intensified, so no temptation ever harmed him, and if the one who did not deny it the first two times did not deny it, a black spot was placed on him and his whole heart became black and dulled, then he relapsed and did not know what was good, nor did he deny what was wrong.
