Kitab al-Fitan of Nu'aym ibn Hammad: ungraded, and weak overall. Never established on its own.

The city's swamp will come, and it is forbidden for him to enter its veil, and the city will shake with its people with one or two shakes, which is an earthquake, and every hypocrite, male and female, will come out of it. Then the Dajjal will go ahead of the Sham (Greater Syria) and besiege them, and the rest of the Muslims that day will sit at the peak of a mountain in the Sham (Greater Syria), and the Dajjal will besiege them, descending with his roots, until when the affliction continues upon them, a man of the Muslims says: O community of Muslims, how long will you remain like this when the enemy of Allah descends? At the origin of this mountain of yours? Are you anything but among one of the two good ones: between Allah calling you to witness, or making you appear, so they pledge allegiance to death, a pledge that Allah Almighty knows is honesty from themselves, and then darkness overtakes them in which no one can see his hand. Then he mentioned the descent of Jesus.

[Collection & Reference]: Narration #1551 in Kitab al-Fitan (Nu'aym ibn Hammad).

[Scholarly Verification Notice]: Recorded in Nu'aym ibn Hammad's Kitab al-Fitan (d. 228 AH). Hadith scholars classify this historical compilation as ungraded and weak overall; its isolated reports are not accepted as established doctrine unless corroborated by standard Sahih works.

[Core Subject]: The Dajjal (al-Masih al-Dajjal, the false messiah) is a single man who will appear near the end and claim to be God. Every prophet warned his people about him, and the Prophet ﷺ called his trial the greatest from the creation of Adam until the Hour.

[Described Characteristics]: He is a young man, stocky, with thick curly hair, blind in his right eye, which looks like a floating grape. Between his eyes is written ka-fa-ra (kafir), which every believer can read, literate or not. He brings what looks like paradise and hell, but his paradise is fire and his fire is cool water. He orders the sky to rain and it rains. He stays forty days: one like a year, one like a month, one like a week, the rest like ordinary days. He cannot enter Makkah or Madinah.

[Timeline & Context]: In the narrated order he is the first of the great signs. He comes after the great battle with the Romans and the conquest of Constantinople, and Isa (AS) kills him at the gate of Lud.

[Prophetic Practice]: Memorise the first ten verses of Surah al-Kahf, read al-Kahf on Fridays, and in every prayer before the salam ask Allah's refuge from the trial of the Dajjal. Whoever hears of him should keep away from him.

[Geographical Locations]: Mentioned in narration : Madinah, Sham (Greater Syria).
