It was narrated from Thawban, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:“The earth was brought together for me so that I could see the east and the west, and I was given two treasures, the yellow (or the red) and the white-meaning gold and silver. And it was said to me: ‘Your dominion will extend as far as has been shown to you.’ I asked Allah for three things: That my nation would not be overwhelmed by famine that would destroy them all, and that they would not be rent by schism and fight one another, but it was said to me: ‘When I (Allah) issue My decree it cannot be revoked. But I will never cause your nation to be overwhelmed by famine that would destroy them all, and I will not gather their enemies against them (and destroy them) until they annihilate one another and kill one another.’ Once they start to fight amongst themselves, that will continue until the Day of Resurrection. What I fear most for my nation is misguiding leaders. Some tribes among my nation will worship idols and some tribes among my nation will join the idolaters. Before the Hour comes there will be nearly thirty Dajjals (great liars), each of them claiming to be a Prophet. But a group among my nation will continue to adhere to the truth and be victorious, and those who oppose them will not harm them, until the command of Allah comes to pass.’”

[Collection & Reference]: Narration #3952 in Sunan Ibn Majah.

[Isnad Grading & Assessment]: Scholar verdicts : Al-Albani: Sahih | Muhammad Fouad Abd al-Baqi: Sahih | Zubair Ali Zai: Sahih Muslim.

[Core Subject]: The Hour (al-Sa'ah) is the moment this world ends. Everything alive dies, the universe is undone, and then comes the resurrection. The Quran mentions it again and again, and the Prophet ﷺ spoke of the signs that come before it.

[Described Characteristics]: It comes suddenly, while people are busy with their lives: one man is selling cloth, another is fixing his water trough, another is lifting food to his mouth, and none of them finishes. Before it come signs, small ones that spread slowly and ten great ones that come close together.

[Timeline & Context]: Only Allah knows. The Quran says its knowledge is with Him alone, and when Jibril asked the Prophet ﷺ, he answered: the one asked knows no more than the one asking. Any date or countdown contradicts this.

[Prophetic Practice]: A man asked, 'When is the Hour?' The Prophet ﷺ asked back, 'What have you prepared for it?' The real question is our own preparation, not the date.

[Core Subject]: The Prophet ﷺ said the Hour will not come until about thirty liars (dajjals) appear, each claiming to be a messenger of Allah, though he is the last prophet and there is none after him.

[Described Characteristics]: They are 'small dajjals': liars who lead people astray, as forerunners of the great Dajjal.

[Timeline & Context]: It began in the Prophet's own lifetime and continues across history.

[Prophetic Practice]: Know the finality of prophethood (khatm al-nubuwwah) well; it is a shield against every such claim.

[Core Subject]: Yawm al-Qiyamah, the Day of Resurrection, is the Day when all people stand before Allah to be judged. It has many names in the Quran: the Day of Recompense, the Day of Reckoning, the Overwhelming, the Inevitable.

[Described Characteristics]: A nursing mother forgets her baby, a pregnant woman miscarries, and people look drunk though they are not. A person flees from his brother, mother, father, wife and children; each has enough worry of his own. Allah speaks to each person directly with no interpreter between them.

[Timeline & Context]: It begins with the second blow of the Trumpet and moves through its stages: resurrection, gathering, intercession, reckoning and the scales, the Pool and the Bridge, and then Paradise or Hell.

[Prophetic Practice]: 'A person's feet will not move on that Day until he is asked about four things: his life and how he spent it, his knowledge and what he did with it, his wealth, where he earned it and how he spent it, and his body and how he used it.'
