Kitab al-Fitan of Nu'aym ibn Hammad: ungraded, and weak overall. Never established on its own.

Traced to Ka'b al-Ahbar (automatic guess): a report of earlier scriptures, not a hadith of the Prophet ﷺ.

Allah Almighty provides the people of the Sham (Greater Syria) when the Romans fight them in the epics with two flocks, a batch of seventy thousand and a batch of eighty thousand, from the people of Yemen, with their swords drawn, saying: We are servants of Allah truly and truly, fighting the enemies of Allah. May Allah remove from them the plague, the pains, and the afflictions, so that there will not be a country more innocent than the Sham (Greater Syria), and what was in the Sham (Greater Syria) of those pains and plagues will be in other places. Of their kings, he prepares a thousand castles for the people of the Sham (Greater Syria), and every time he prepares them, Allah sends a wind blower over them until Allah permits their emergence, so they anchor between Akka and the river, and they occupy every soldier to supply an army. So I asked him: What river is it? He said: The river of Arant, the Homs River, and its valley is between Al-Aqra and Al-Masissa

[Collection & Reference]: Narration #1319 in Kitab al-Fitan (Nu'aym ibn Hammad).

[Scholarly Verification Notice]: Recorded in Nu'aym ibn Hammad's Kitab al-Fitan (d. 228 AH). Hadith scholars classify this historical compilation as ungraded and weak overall; its isolated reports are not accepted as established doctrine unless corroborated by standard Sahih works.

[Core Subject]: Al-Malhamah al-Kubra is the great battle between the Muslims and the Romans (al-Rum) near the end of time. The narrations describe it as one of the fiercest wars in history.

[Described Characteristics]: The Romans land at al-A'maq or Dabiq in northern Syria. An army from Madinah, the best people on earth in that day, goes out to meet them. A third flees and Allah never accepts their repentance, a third are killed and are the best martyrs, and a third win and are never tried again. Sahih Muslim describes a battle so long that men pledge to fight to the death three days running, and so deadly that a bird flying past the bodies falls dead before reaching their end.

[Timeline & Context]: It comes after a truce with the Romans breaks down, and before the conquest of Constantinople and the Dajjal.

[Prophetic Practice]: The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Do not wish to meet the enemy; ask Allah for well-being. But if you meet them, be steadfast.'

[Core Subject]: Al-Rum, the Romans, were the Byzantine Empire in the Prophet's time. Many narrations about the end speak of the Muslims' relations with them: a truce, a joint war, then the great battle.

[Described Characteristics]: Amr ibn al-As heard that the Hour will come when the Romans are the most numerous of people, and he listed their good qualities: they are the most forbearing in trial, the quickest to recover after a disaster, the best to the poor, orphans and the weak, and they resist the oppression of kings.

[Timeline & Context]: Their part runs through the whole time before the Dajjal: first the truce, then the war, then the conquest of Constantinople.

[Prophetic Practice]: Amr's words teach fairness: name the good in others even when speaking of conflict.

[Geographical Locations]: Mentioned in narration : Sham (Greater Syria), Yemen, Homs.
