Kitab al-Fitan of Nu'aym ibn Hammad: ungraded, and weak overall. Never established on its own.

Before the Dajjal emerges, there will be years of deception in which the truthful will lie, the liar will be believed, the traitorous will be trusted, the trustworthy will be betrayed, and the lowly Ruwaibidah among the people will speak.

[Collection & Reference]: Narration #1470 in Kitab al-Fitan (Nu'aym ibn Hammad).

[Scholarly Verification Notice]: Recorded in Nu'aym ibn Hammad's Kitab al-Fitan (d. 228 AH). Hadith scholars classify this historical compilation as ungraded and weak overall; its isolated reports are not accepted as established doctrine unless corroborated by standard Sahih works.

[Core Subject]: The Dajjal (al-Masih al-Dajjal, the false messiah) is a single man who will appear near the end and claim to be God. Every prophet warned his people about him, and the Prophet ﷺ called his trial the greatest from the creation of Adam until the Hour.

[Described Characteristics]: He is a young man, stocky, with thick curly hair, blind in his right eye, which looks like a floating grape. Between his eyes is written ka-fa-ra (kafir), which every believer can read, literate or not. He brings what looks like paradise and hell, but his paradise is fire and his fire is cool water. He orders the sky to rain and it rains. He stays forty days: one like a year, one like a month, one like a week, the rest like ordinary days. He cannot enter Makkah or Madinah.

[Timeline & Context]: In the narrated order he is the first of the great signs. He comes after the great battle with the Romans and the conquest of Constantinople, and Isa (AS) kills him at the gate of Lud.

[Prophetic Practice]: Memorise the first ten verses of Surah al-Kahf, read al-Kahf on Fridays, and in every prayer before the salam ask Allah's refuge from the trial of the Dajjal. Whoever hears of him should keep away from him.

[Core Subject]: When trust (amanah) is lost, wait for the Hour. And trust is lost when affairs are given to those not fit for them.

[Described Characteristics]: Hudhayfah narrated that trust will be lifted from people's hearts little by little, until it is said 'in such-and-such tribe there is one trustworthy man', and a man is praised as clever, charming and wise while he has not a mustard seed of faith in his heart.

[Timeline & Context]: It happens gradually and has no fixed place in the order of the signs.

[Prophetic Practice]: 'Each of you is a shepherd and each is responsible for his flock.' Keep the trusts you hold.
