Kitab al-Fitan of Nu'aym ibn Hammad: ungraded, and weak overall. Never established on its own.

The Dajjal, while it is forbidden for him to enter the parts of Medina, then a man who is the best of people on that day, or one of the best people on that day, will come out to him and say: I bear witness that you are the Dajjal whose hadith the Messenger of Allah ﷺ told us. Then the Dajjal says: Do you think that if I killed this man and then brought him back to life, would you doubt the matter? They say: No, so he kills him and then revives him, and when he comes back to life he says: By Allah, I was not more insightful about you than I am now. Then the Dajjal wants to kill him a second time, so he will not have power over him.

[Collection & Reference]: Narration #1547 in Kitab al-Fitan (Nu'aym ibn Hammad).

[Scholarly Verification Notice]: Recorded in Nu'aym ibn Hammad's Kitab al-Fitan (d. 228 AH). Hadith scholars classify this historical compilation as ungraded and weak overall; its isolated reports are not accepted as established doctrine unless corroborated by standard Sahih works.

[Core Subject]: The Dajjal (al-Masih al-Dajjal, the false messiah) is a single man who will appear near the end and claim to be God. Every prophet warned his people about him, and the Prophet ﷺ called his trial the greatest from the creation of Adam until the Hour.

[Described Characteristics]: He is a young man, stocky, with thick curly hair, blind in his right eye, which looks like a floating grape. Between his eyes is written ka-fa-ra (kafir), which every believer can read, literate or not. He brings what looks like paradise and hell, but his paradise is fire and his fire is cool water. He orders the sky to rain and it rains. He stays forty days: one like a year, one like a month, one like a week, the rest like ordinary days. He cannot enter Makkah or Madinah.

[Timeline & Context]: In the narrated order he is the first of the great signs. He comes after the great battle with the Romans and the conquest of Constantinople, and Isa (AS) kills him at the gate of Lud.

[Prophetic Practice]: Memorise the first ten verses of Surah al-Kahf, read al-Kahf on Fridays, and in every prayer before the salam ask Allah's refuge from the trial of the Dajjal. Whoever hears of him should keep away from him.

[Core Subject]: Madinah has a special place at the end of time: the Dajjal cannot enter it, and it expels its impurity as a furnace removes the dross from iron.

[Described Characteristics]: Angels guard every entrance. When the Dajjal camps outside, Madinah shakes three times and every hypocrite inside goes out to him. Faith retreats to Madinah as a snake retreats to its hole. Near the end, Madinah will be left empty, visited only by wild animals and birds.

[Timeline & Context]: Its protection is shown in the Dajjal's time; its emptying comes near the very end.

[Prophetic Practice]: 'Whoever can die in Madinah, let him do so, for I will intercede for whoever dies there.'

[Geographical Locations]: Mentioned in narration : Madinah.
