Kitab al-Fitan of Nu'aym ibn Hammad: ungraded, and weak overall. Never established on its own.

Two banners will emerge from the Abbasids, one of which has the beginning of victory and the end of which is a burden. They will not help it, but Allah will not help it. The other, the beginning of which will be a burden and the end of which will be disbelief. They will not help it, but Allah will not help it.

[Collection & Reference]: Narration #571 in Kitab al-Fitan (Nu'aym ibn Hammad).

[Scholarly Verification Notice]: Recorded in Nu'aym ibn Hammad's Kitab al-Fitan (d. 228 AH). Hadith scholars classify this historical compilation as ungraded and weak overall; its isolated reports are not accepted as established doctrine unless corroborated by standard Sahih works.

[Core Subject]: The Abbasids, descendants of the Prophet's uncle al-Abbas, overthrew the Umayyads in 132 AH and ruled from Baghdad. Some reports are said to foretell their rise.

[Described Characteristics]: The reports that name them, or speak of a ruler called al-Saffah, are weak, and some were spread during the revolution itself. No sahih narration names the Abbasids.

[Timeline & Context]: They ruled from the second to the seventh Islamic century, until the Mongols ended their caliphate in Baghdad in 656 AH.

[Prophetic Practice]: When a movement claims prophecy for itself, check the grade of the narration first.
