Kitab al-Fitan of Nu'aym ibn Hammad: ungraded, and weak overall. Never established on its own.

There will be a turmoil in the Sham (Greater Syria) whenever it calms down on one side or the other, and it does not end until a caller calls from the sky: Your prince is so-and-so.

Synthesized commentary, isnad grading & cross-references

[Collection & Reference]: Narration #673 in Kitab al-Fitan (Nu'aym ibn Hammad).

[Scholarly Verification Notice]: Recorded in Nu'aym ibn Hammad's Kitab al-Fitan (d. 228 AH). Hadith scholars classify this historical compilation as ungraded and weak overall; its isolated reports are not accepted as established doctrine unless corroborated by standard Sahih works.

[Core Subject]: A 'cry' or voice heard in Ramadan is reported among the tribulations before the Mahdi. The reports are weak, coming mainly through Nu'aym's Kitab al-Fitan.

[Described Characteristics]: Reports in Nu'aym's Kitab al-Fitan mention 'a voice in Ramadan, an uproar in Shawwal, and in Dhu al-Qa'da the tribes take sides', among the disturbances preceding the Mahdi (e.g. Kitab al-Fitan, reports 629 and 631). These chains are weak and the collection is ungraded.

[Timeline & Context]: Placed in the weak Mahdi-era reports; it is not established by sound narration and carries no date.

[Prophetic Practice]: Weigh reports by their authenticity: hold to what the sound narrations teach, and treat weak, unverified reports as neither belief nor a timetable.

[Geographical Locations]: Mentioned in narration : Sham (Greater Syria).
