Anas bin Malik said:"I shall narrate a Hadith to you that I heard from the Messenger of Allah(s.a.w), which none after me shall narrate that he heard it from the Messenger of Allah(s.a.w)." [He said:] "The Messenger of Allah(s.a.w) said: 'Indeed, among the signs of the Hour are that knowledge shall be raised up, ignorance shall be rampant, Zina shall abound, Khamr shall be drunk, women shall increase and men shall decrease such that fifty women will be supported by one man

[Collection & Reference]: Narration #2205 in Jami' at-Tirmidhi.

[Isnad Grading & Assessment]: Scholar verdicts : Ahmad Muhammad Shakir: Sahih | Al-Albani: Sahih | Bashar Awad Maarouf: Hasan Sahih | Zubair Ali Zai: Sahih - Agreed Upon.

[Core Subject]: The Hour (al-Sa'ah) is the moment this world ends. Everything alive dies, the universe is undone, and then comes the resurrection. The Quran mentions it again and again, and the Prophet ﷺ spoke of the signs that come before it.

[Described Characteristics]: It comes suddenly, while people are busy with their lives: one man is selling cloth, another is fixing his water trough, another is lifting food to his mouth, and none of them finishes. Before it come signs, small ones that spread slowly and ten great ones that come close together.

[Timeline & Context]: Only Allah knows. The Quran says its knowledge is with Him alone, and when Jibril asked the Prophet ﷺ, he answered: the one asked knows no more than the one asking. Any date or countdown contradicts this.

[Prophetic Practice]: A man asked, 'When is the Hour?' The Prophet ﷺ asked back, 'What have you prepared for it?' The real question is our own preparation, not the date.

[Core Subject]: Among the signs of the Hour: ilm is taken away and ignorance spreads. Ilm here is understanding of the religion and the wisdom to make the right decision, which Allah gives and the scholars carry.

[Described Characteristics]: Allah does not snatch knowledge out of people's chests; He takes it by taking the scholars. When no scholar is left, people take ignorant men as leaders, who give rulings without knowledge, go astray and lead others astray.

[Timeline & Context]: It spreads gradually, alongside other signs that have no fixed order.

[Prophetic Practice]: Learn from living scholars while they are with us, and ask Allah: 'My Lord, increase me in knowledge.'

[Core Subject]: Among the signs: zina (fornication) becomes widespread and open, and people of the ummah treat as lawful zina, silk, wine and musical instruments.

[Described Characteristics]: Sins once hidden are done openly and without shame. Another narration warns of people who drink wine and call it by another name.

[Timeline & Context]: It spreads over time and has no fixed place in the order of the signs.

[Prophetic Practice]: 'All of my ummah will be forgiven except those who sin openly.' If you fall, keep it hidden and repent.

[Core Subject]: Men become few and women many, until fifty women have one man to look after them.

[Described Characteristics]: In another narration, one man is followed by forty women who seek his protection, because men are so few.

[Timeline & Context]: It spreads over time and has no fixed place in the order of the signs.

[Prophetic Practice]: 'The best of you are those best to their women.' Care for those who depend on you.
