[Collection & Reference]: Narration #7118 in Sahih al-Bukhari.

[Authenticity & Isnad]: Authentic (Sahih) by consensus of the scholars through its inclusion in the Sahihayn.

[Core Subject]: The Hour (al-Sa'ah) is the moment this world ends. Everything alive dies, the universe is undone, and then comes the resurrection. The Quran mentions it again and again, and the Prophet ﷺ spoke of the signs that come before it.

[Described Characteristics]: It comes suddenly, while people are busy with their lives: one man is selling cloth, another is fixing his water trough, another is lifting food to his mouth, and none of them finishes. Before it come signs, small ones that spread slowly and ten great ones that come close together.

[Timeline & Context]: Only Allah knows. The Quran says its knowledge is with Him alone, and when Jibril asked the Prophet ﷺ, he answered: the one asked knows no more than the one asking. Any date or countdown contradicts this.

[Prophetic Practice]: A man asked, 'When is the Hour?' The Prophet ﷺ asked back, 'What have you prepared for it?' The real question is our own preparation, not the date.

[Core Subject]: The last of the ten great signs: a fire that comes out of Yemen, from the depths of Aden, and drives people to the place of their gathering.

[Described Characteristics]: The fire stays with people where they stop for the night and where they rest at midday, moving them on. Sahih al-Bukhari describes people gathered in groups, some riding two or three or ten on one camel, toward the land of the gathering, which scholars identify as Sham.

[Timeline & Context]: It is named last among the ten great signs, and is taken as the final sign before the Hour.

[Prophetic Practice]: Each of these signs is a reminder that the time for deeds is now.

[Core Subject]: The Prophet ﷺ said the Hour will not come until a fire comes out of the land of Hijaz that lights up the necks of the camels at Busra (in Syria).

[Described Characteristics]: A fire so large and bright that its light could be seen hundreds of kilometres away.

[Timeline & Context]: Al-Nawawi, Ibn Kathir and al-Qurtubi held that it appeared in 654 AH (1256 CE).

[Prophetic Practice]: Fulfilled signs strengthen certainty in the ones still to come.
