[Collection & Reference]: Narration #8654 in al-Mustadrak (al-Hakim).

[Core Subject]: The Dajjal (al-Masih al-Dajjal, the false messiah) is a single man who will appear near the end and claim to be God. Every prophet warned his people about him, and the Prophet ﷺ called his trial the greatest from the creation of Adam until the Hour.

[Described Characteristics]: He is a young man, stocky, with thick curly hair, blind in his right eye, which looks like a floating grape. Between his eyes is written ka-fa-ra (kafir), which every believer can read, literate or not. He brings what looks like paradise and hell, but his paradise is fire and his fire is cool water. He orders the sky to rain and it rains. He stays forty days: one like a year, one like a month, one like a week, the rest like ordinary days. He cannot enter Makkah or Madinah.

[Timeline & Context]: In the narrated order he is the first of the great signs. He comes after the great battle with the Romans and the conquest of Constantinople, and Isa (AS) kills him at the gate of Lud.

[Prophetic Practice]: Memorise the first ten verses of Surah al-Kahf, read al-Kahf on Fridays, and in every prayer before the salam ask Allah's refuge from the trial of the Dajjal. Whoever hears of him should keep away from him.

[Core Subject]: Isa (Jesus, AS), son of Maryam, was not killed or crucified; Allah raised him up. Near the end of time he descends again, kills the Dajjal, and rules by the law of Muhammad ﷺ as a just ruler.

[Described Characteristics]: He descends at the white minaret east of Damascus, wearing two saffron-dyed garments, his hands on the wings of two angels. When he lowers his head, drops fall like pearls. He finds the Dajjal at the gate of Lud and kills him. He breaks the cross, kills the pig, abolishes the jizyah, and wealth becomes so plentiful no one accepts it. He lives on earth for a time, marries, then dies and the Muslims pray over him.

[Timeline & Context]: He descends during the Dajjal's forty days, just as the Muslims are getting ready for prayer, and Ya'juj and Ma'juj come out in his time.

[Prophetic Practice]: The Prophet ﷺ said: whoever of you meets him, convey my salam to him.

[Core Subject]: After the time of Isa (AS), Allah sends a cool, gentle wind from the direction of Sham (or Yemen in another narration). It takes the soul of every believer, even one with a mustard seed of faith.

[Described Characteristics]: It reaches people wherever they are: even if one of them were inside a mountain, it would enter and take him. It touches them under their armpits and they die peacefully.

[Timeline & Context]: The wind comes after Isa (AS) and the years of peace in his time; after it only the worst of people remain, and the Hour comes on them.

[Prophetic Practice]: Ask Allah for a good end (husn al-khatimah).

[Core Subject]: The angel Israfil will blow into the Trumpet (al-Sur). At the first blow everyone in the heavens and earth falls dead, except whom Allah wills. At the second they all stand up, looking on.

[Described Characteristics]: A man hears it while fixing his camel's trough and falls. Between the two blows is 'forty'; Abu Hurayrah would not say forty of what, days, months or years.

[Timeline & Context]: The first blow is the Hour itself, and the second begins the resurrection.

[Prophetic Practice]: Say 'Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakil, ala Allahi tawakkalna' (Allah is enough for us, the best guardian; in Allah we trust).

[Geographical Locations]: Mentioned in narration : Sham (Greater Syria).
