Kitab al-Fitan of Nu'aym ibn Hammad: ungraded, and weak overall. Never established on its own.

May Allah relieve the temptations of a man among us who brandishes them with shame and gives them nothing but the sword. He places the sword on his shoulder for eight months of chaos, until they say: By Allah, this is not a descendant of Fatima. If he had been one of her descendants, he would have had mercy on us. Allah will tempt him with the sons of Abbas and the sons of Umayyad.

[Collection & Reference]: Narration #1011 in Kitab al-Fitan (Nu'aym ibn Hammad).

[Scholarly Verification Notice]: Recorded in Nu'aym ibn Hammad's Kitab al-Fitan (d. 228 AH). Hadith scholars classify this historical compilation as ungraded and weak overall; its isolated reports are not accepted as established doctrine unless corroborated by standard Sahih works.

[Core Subject]: The Prophet ﷺ foretold that the ruin of his ummah would come at the hands of young men of Quraysh, and that rule would turn into kingship after thirty years of caliphate. Scholars connect these with the Umayyad dynasty (41-132 AH).

[Described Characteristics]: Abu Hurayrah said he could name them if he wished. Ibn Hajar and others explain that he meant certain Umayyad rulers, beginning around the year 60 AH, and Abu Hurayrah prayed to die before then.

[Timeline & Context]: This was in the first Islamic century, and it has already passed.

[Prophetic Practice]: Abu Hurayrah sought refuge from 'the year sixty and the rule of boys'. Ask Allah for just leaders.

[Core Subject]: The Abbasids, descendants of the Prophet's uncle al-Abbas, overthrew the Umayyads in 132 AH and ruled from Baghdad. Some reports are said to foretell their rise.

[Described Characteristics]: The reports that name them, or speak of a ruler called al-Saffah, are weak, and some were spread during the revolution itself. No sahih narration names the Abbasids.

[Timeline & Context]: They ruled from the second to the seventh Islamic century, until the Mongols ended their caliphate in Baghdad in 656 AH.

[Prophetic Practice]: When a movement claims prophecy for itself, check the grade of the narration first.
