Kitab al-Fitan of Nu'aym ibn Hammad: ungraded, and weak overall. Never established on its own.

Traced to Ka'b al-Ahbar (automatic guess): a report of earlier scriptures, not a hadith of the Prophet ﷺ.

No ship will ever sail on the sea after the conquest of Rome. Ka'b said: Fighting deeds is associated with temptations, because three entire tribes join in disbelief in their banners, and a group of the Reds is defeated and joins them as well. Ka'b said: "Were it not for three things, I would not like to live for an hour. The first of them is the plundering of the Bedouins, for they mobilize in some of the epics that happen, and they say as they said at the beginning of Islam the first time when they called for victory: {Our wealth and our families have occupied us.} [Al-Fath: 11] Those who answered answered, and those who left left, so if they asked for victory the second time in the time of epics and they refused, Allah would permit them to do so with the verse that Allah Almighty promised them in His Book: {Say to those who remained behind among the Bedouins: “You will be called to a people of mighty might. You will fight them or they will submit.” [Al-Fath: 16] The verse, for it is the plundering of the Bedouins, and the disappointed is the one who is disappointed on the day of the plundering of a dog. Every iron must be cowardly, for if a man was struck on that day with a sword, he would be cut off, and the third, had I not witnessed the conquest of the city of infidelity, and if not its conquest, I would have been young and old.” It was said to Ka’b: Who are these tribes that join infidelity? He said: Tanukh, Bahra, Kalb, and Yazid from Qada'ah, and most of those who are loyal to these tribes are the Yafaniyah of the Sham (Greater Syria), meaning peace with them.

[Collection & Reference]: Narration #1253 in Kitab al-Fitan (Nu'aym ibn Hammad).

[Scholarly Verification Notice]: Recorded in Nu'aym ibn Hammad's Kitab al-Fitan (d. 228 AH). Hadith scholars classify this historical compilation as ungraded and weak overall; its isolated reports are not accepted as established doctrine unless corroborated by standard Sahih works.

[Core Subject]: Al-Malhamah al-Kubra is the great battle between the Muslims and the Romans (al-Rum) near the end of time. The narrations describe it as one of the fiercest wars in history.

[Described Characteristics]: The Romans land at al-A'maq or Dabiq in northern Syria. An army from Madinah, the best people on earth in that day, goes out to meet them. A third flees and Allah never accepts their repentance, a third are killed and are the best martyrs, and a third win and are never tried again. Sahih Muslim describes a battle so long that men pledge to fight to the death three days running, and so deadly that a bird flying past the bodies falls dead before reaching their end.

[Timeline & Context]: It comes after a truce with the Romans breaks down, and before the conquest of Constantinople and the Dajjal.

[Prophetic Practice]: The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Do not wish to meet the enemy; ask Allah for well-being. But if you meet them, be steadfast.'

[Geographical Locations]: Mentioned in narration : Sham (Greater Syria).
