Kitab al-Fitan of Nu'aym ibn Hammad: ungraded, and weak overall. Never established on its own.

If the great epic was the Roman epic, a group of you escaped and joined the enemy, and another group left and surrendered to you, Allah eclipsed some of them, and sent upon those who remained among them a bird that would snatch away their sight, and then the remaining group would remain. Servants of Allah, whoever of you realizes that and is overcome by self-restraint, let him enter under his tents or hold on to the pillar of his camp, and be patient, for Allah Almighty is the supporter of the remaining group, and that is when he weakens you. The Romans, and they covet you. The owner of the Romans says: When you are in the morning, ride a single-hoofed animal, then give them one step. This religion will never be mentioned on earth, meaning Islam. He said: Then Allah Almighty becomes angry at that, until he is in the fourth heaven, and in it is the weapon of Allah and His torment, and he says: There is nothing left but me and my religion, Islam, and the people of Yemen and Qais, so that I will help my servants today, and the hand of Allah is between the two ranks, when He inclines it upon a people. The plan was upon them. O people of Yemen, do not hate Qays, and O Qays, love the people of Yemen, for Qays is one of the best of people in terms of soul and morals, and by the One in whose hand is the soul of Ka`b, no one will dispute the religion of Islam on that day except you.

[Collection & Reference]: Narration #1314 in Kitab al-Fitan (Nu'aym ibn Hammad).

[Scholarly Verification Notice]: Recorded in Nu'aym ibn Hammad's Kitab al-Fitan (d. 228 AH). Hadith scholars classify this historical compilation as ungraded and weak overall; its isolated reports are not accepted as established doctrine unless corroborated by standard Sahih works.

[Core Subject]: Al-Malhamah al-Kubra is the great battle between the Muslims and the Romans (al-Rum) near the end of time. The narrations describe it as one of the fiercest wars in history.

[Described Characteristics]: The Romans land at al-A'maq or Dabiq in northern Syria. An army from Madinah, the best people on earth in that day, goes out to meet them. A third flees and Allah never accepts their repentance, a third are killed and are the best martyrs, and a third win and are never tried again. Sahih Muslim describes a battle so long that men pledge to fight to the death three days running, and so deadly that a bird flying past the bodies falls dead before reaching their end.

[Timeline & Context]: It comes after a truce with the Romans breaks down, and before the conquest of Constantinople and the Dajjal.

[Prophetic Practice]: The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Do not wish to meet the enemy; ask Allah for well-being. But if you meet them, be steadfast.'

[Core Subject]: Al-Rum, the Romans, were the Byzantine Empire in the Prophet's time. Many narrations about the end speak of the Muslims' relations with them: a truce, a joint war, then the great battle.

[Described Characteristics]: Amr ibn al-As heard that the Hour will come when the Romans are the most numerous of people, and he listed their good qualities: they are the most forbearing in trial, the quickest to recover after a disaster, the best to the poor, orphans and the weak, and they resist the oppression of kings.

[Timeline & Context]: Their part runs through the whole time before the Dajjal: first the truce, then the war, then the conquest of Constantinople.

[Prophetic Practice]: Amr's words teach fairness: name the good in others even when speaking of conflict.

[Core Subject]: Three great collapses of the earth (khusuf): one in the east, one in the west, and one in the Arabian Peninsula. Whole areas will sink into the ground.

[Described Characteristics]: The narration names them as three of the ten great signs and gives no further detail. A separate sahih narration describes an army that marches to attack the Ka'bah and is swallowed by the earth in a desert plain (al-Bayda').

[Timeline & Context]: They are among the ten great signs, which come close together near the end.

[Prophetic Practice]: When the Prophet ﷺ saw a strong wind or dark cloud, his face changed and he turned to Allah in dua until it passed.

[Geographical Locations]: Mentioned in narration : Yemen.
