Kitab al-Fitan of Nu'aym ibn Hammad: ungraded, and weak overall. Never established on its own.

By Allah, after that, among us is the Assassin, the Mansour, and the Mahdi, who will hand it over to Jesus, son of Mary

[Collection & Reference]: Narration #228 in Kitab al-Fitan (Nu'aym ibn Hammad).

[Scholarly Verification Notice]: Recorded in Nu'aym ibn Hammad's Kitab al-Fitan (d. 228 AH). Hadith scholars classify this historical compilation as ungraded and weak overall; its isolated reports are not accepted as established doctrine unless corroborated by standard Sahih works.

[Core Subject]: The Mahdi ('the rightly guided one') is a man from the Prophet's family, through Fatimah, who will lead the Muslims near the end of time and fill the earth with justice as it had been filled with oppression.

[Described Characteristics]: His name will match the Prophet's name and his father's name the Prophet's father's name (Muhammad ibn Abdullah). He has a broad forehead and a fine, high nose. He rules for seven years, wealth is plentiful in his time, and he gives it out by the handful without counting. Isa (AS) descends while he is about to lead the prayer.

[Timeline & Context]: He comes before the Dajjal, in the time of the great wars with the Romans, around the conquest of Constantinople and the descent of Isa (AS).

[Prophetic Practice]: Waiting for a rescuer is not the Sunnah. Work for justice where you are, and do not follow anyone who claims the title.

[Core Subject]: Isa (Jesus, AS), son of Maryam, was not killed or crucified; Allah raised him up. Near the end of time he descends again, kills the Dajjal, and rules by the law of Muhammad ﷺ as a just ruler.

[Described Characteristics]: He descends at the white minaret east of Damascus, wearing two saffron-dyed garments, his hands on the wings of two angels. When he lowers his head, drops fall like pearls. He finds the Dajjal at the gate of Lud and kills him. He breaks the cross, kills the pig, abolishes the jizyah, and wealth becomes so plentiful no one accepts it. He lives on earth for a time, marries, then dies and the Muslims pray over him.

[Timeline & Context]: He descends during the Dajjal's forty days, just as the Muslims are getting ready for prayer, and Ya'juj and Ma'juj come out in his time.

[Prophetic Practice]: The Prophet ﷺ said: whoever of you meets him, convey my salam to him.

[Core Subject]: The Prophet ﷺ foretold that the caliphate after him would last thirty years and then become kingship, and that the religion would stay strong under twelve rulers, all from Quraysh.

[Described Characteristics]: Safinah counted the thirty years: Abu Bakr two, Umar ten, Uthman twelve, Ali six. The thirtieth year was completed by al-Hasan's months, after which Mu'awiyah ruled.

[Timeline & Context]: The thirty years ran from 11 to 41 AH, and kingship followed; this has passed.

[Prophetic Practice]: 'Hold to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided caliphs after me; bite onto it with your molar teeth.'
