Attiyah narrated from Abu Sa'eed in Marfu' form:"When it is the Day of Resurrection, Death shall be brought as a mixed black-white ram. It shall be stood between Paradise and the Fire, and then slaughtered while they watch. If anyone were to die of joy, then surely the people of Paradise and the Fire, and then slaughtered while they watch. If anyone were to die of joy, then surely the people of Paradise would die, and if anyone were to die of grief, then surely the people of the Fire would die

Synthesized commentary, isnad grading & cross-references

[Collection & Reference]: Narration #2558 in Jami' at-Tirmidhi.

[Isnad Grading & Assessment]: Scholar verdicts : Ahmad Muhammad Shakir: Sahih | Al-Albani: Daif | Zubair Ali Zai: Daif.

[Core Subject]: Yawm al-Qiyamah, the Day of Resurrection, is the Day when all people stand before Allah to be judged. It has many names in the Quran: the Day of Recompense, the Day of Reckoning, the Overwhelming, the Inevitable.

[Described Characteristics]: A nursing mother forgets her baby, a pregnant woman miscarries, and people look drunk though they are not. A person flees from his brother, mother, father, wife and children; each has enough worry of his own. Allah speaks to each person directly with no interpreter between them.

[Timeline & Context]: It begins with the second blow of the Trumpet and moves through its stages: resurrection, gathering, intercession, reckoning and the scales, the Pool and the Bridge, and then Paradise or Hell.

[Prophetic Practice]: 'A person's feet will not move on that Day until he is asked about four things: his life and how he spent it, his knowledge and what he did with it, his wealth, where he earned it and how he spent it, and his body and how he used it.'

[Core Subject]: Jannah, Paradise, is the eternal home of the believers: 'what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no heart has imagined'.

[Described Characteristics]: Gardens with rivers of water, milk, honey and pure drink; a hundred levels, the highest al-Firdaws under the Throne. No illness, no ageing, no sorrow, no death. Its greatest joy is seeing Allah, and His saying: 'I am pleased with you and will never be displeased with you after this.'

[Timeline & Context]: After the Bridge, the believers enter it forever. Paradise already exists now.

[Prophetic Practice]: 'When you ask Allah, ask for al-Firdaws.'

[Core Subject]: Jahannam, Hellfire, is the abode of punishment for those who rejected Allah and for whom He decrees it. Believers who enter it for their sins are eventually brought out; the disbelievers remain.

[Described Characteristics]: Our fire is one of seventy parts of its heat. Its fuel is people and stones. It has seven gates. The lightest punishment in it is a man with embers under his feet that make his brain boil.

[Timeline & Context]: People enter it after the judgment. Like Paradise, it already exists now.

[Prophetic Practice]: 'Protect yourselves from the Fire, even with half a date in charity.' And ask: 'Our Lord, avert from us the punishment of Hell.'
