[Collection & Reference]: Narration #22121 in Musnad Ahmad.

[Core Subject]: The Dajjal (al-Masih al-Dajjal, the false messiah) is a single man who will appear near the end and claim to be God. Every prophet warned his people about him, and the Prophet ﷺ called his trial the greatest from the creation of Adam until the Hour.

[Described Characteristics]: He is a young man, stocky, with thick curly hair, blind in his right eye, which looks like a floating grape. Between his eyes is written ka-fa-ra (kafir), which every believer can read, literate or not. He brings what looks like paradise and hell, but his paradise is fire and his fire is cool water. He orders the sky to rain and it rains. He stays forty days: one like a year, one like a month, one like a week, the rest like ordinary days. He cannot enter Makkah or Madinah.

[Timeline & Context]: In the narrated order he is the first of the great signs. He comes after the great battle with the Romans and the conquest of Constantinople, and Isa (AS) kills him at the gate of Lud.

[Prophetic Practice]: Memorise the first ten verses of Surah al-Kahf, read al-Kahf on Fridays, and in every prayer before the salam ask Allah's refuge from the trial of the Dajjal. Whoever hears of him should keep away from him.

[Core Subject]: Al-Malhamah al-Kubra is the great battle between the Muslims and the Romans (al-Rum) near the end of time. The narrations describe it as one of the fiercest wars in history.

[Described Characteristics]: The Romans land at al-A'maq or Dabiq in northern Syria. An army from Madinah, the best people on earth in that day, goes out to meet them. A third flees and Allah never accepts their repentance, a third are killed and are the best martyrs, and a third win and are never tried again. Sahih Muslim describes a battle so long that men pledge to fight to the death three days running, and so deadly that a bird flying past the bodies falls dead before reaching their end.

[Timeline & Context]: It comes after a truce with the Romans breaks down, and before the conquest of Constantinople and the Dajjal.

[Prophetic Practice]: The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Do not wish to meet the enemy; ask Allah for well-being. But if you meet them, be steadfast.'

[Core Subject]: Constantinople, today's Istanbul, was the capital of the Romans. The Prophet ﷺ foretold that the Muslims would conquer it.

[Described Characteristics]: In Sahih Muslim, after the great battle the Muslims reach the city and conquer it without weapons: at the first 'La ilaha illallah wallahu akbar' one side of its wall falls, at the second the other side, at the third the way opens. While they are dividing the spoils, a cry goes up that the Dajjal has come among their families.

[Timeline & Context]: The conquest comes right after the great battle and just before the Dajjal.

[Prophetic Practice]: The city falls to dhikr, not weapons. La ilaha illallah wallahu akbar is worth more than we think.

[Core Subject]: The flourishing of Baitul Maqdis (Jerusalem) - and the descent of the Caliphate in the Holy Land - as the opening milestone in the prophetic sequence leading to the Great Battle and the Dajjal.

[Described Characteristics]: Mu'adh ibn Jabal narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'The flourishing of Baitul Maqdis (`umran Bayt al-Maqdis) will be the ruin of Yathrib; the ruin of Yathrib will be the outbreak of the Great Battle (al-Malhamah); the outbreak of the Great Battle will be the conquest of Constantinople; and the conquest of Constantinople will be the emergence of the Dajjal' (Sunan Abi Dawud 4294). And to Ibn Hawalah he said: 'When you see the Caliphate has descended in the Holy Land, then earthquakes, tribulations, and great matters have drawn near' (Sunan Abi Dawud 2535).

[Timeline & Context]: Explicitly placed first in the five-stage sequence of Phase 3 (Before the Dajjal) in Sunan Abi Dawud 4294.

[Prophetic Practice]: Honor the sanctity of al-Masjid al-Aqsa through knowledge, prayer, and justice, while adhering strictly to authentic prophetic guidance.

[Geographical Locations]: Mentioned in narration : Baitul Maqdis (Jerusalem), Constantinople (Istanbul).
