This hadith has been narrated through other chains of transmitters on the authority of Ibn Abbas, (and) the words are:While Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) stood up to deliver a sermon, he said: 0 people, Allah would make you assemble barefooted, naked and uncircumcised (and then recited the words of the Qur'an):" As We created you for the first time, We shall repeat it. (It is) a promise (binding) upon us. Lo! We are to perform it, and the first person who would be clothed on the Day of Resurrection would be (Hadrat) Ibrahim (peace be upon him)" and, behold! some persons of my Ummah would be brought and taken to the left and I would say: My Lord, they are my companions, and it would be said: You do not know what they did after you, and I would say just as the pious servant (Hadrat 'Isa) said:, I was a witness regarding them as I remained among them and Thou art a witness over everything, so if Thou chastisest them, they are Thy servants and if Thou for- givest them, Thou art Mighty, Wise" (v. 117-118). And it would be said to him: They constantly turned to their heels since you left them. Scholarly Commentary & Context

Synthesized commentary, isnad grading & cross-references

[Collection & Reference]: Narration #2860b in Sahih Muslim.

[Authenticity & Isnad]: Authentic (Sahih) by consensus of the scholars through its inclusion in the Sahihayn.

[Core Subject]: Yawm al-Qiyamah, the Day of Resurrection, is the Day when all people stand before Allah to be judged. It has many names in the Quran: the Day of Recompense, the Day of Reckoning, the Overwhelming, the Inevitable.

[Described Characteristics]: A nursing mother forgets her baby, a pregnant woman miscarries, and people look drunk though they are not. A person flees from his brother, mother, father, wife and children; each has enough worry of his own. Allah speaks to each person directly with no interpreter between them.

[Timeline & Context]: It begins with the second blow of the Trumpet and moves through its stages: resurrection, gathering, intercession, reckoning and the scales, the Pool and the Bridge, and then Paradise or Hell.

[Prophetic Practice]: 'A person's feet will not move on that Day until he is asked about four things: his life and how he spent it, his knowledge and what he did with it, his wealth, where he earned it and how he spent it, and his body and how he used it.'

[Core Subject]: Al-Hashr is the Gathering: all of creation, from Adam to the last human, brought together on one vast plain to wait for judgment.

[Described Characteristics]: The earth is flat and white like a pure loaf, with no landmark on it. The sun comes within a mile of people and they sweat according to their deeds: some to the ankles, some to the waist, some drowning in it. The day lasts fifty thousand years. Seven kinds of people are shaded in the shade of Allah's Throne.

[Timeline & Context]: It comes right after the resurrection, before the reckoning.

[Prophetic Practice]: Be among the seven in the shade: a just leader, a youth raised in worship, one whose heart is attached to the mosques, two who love for Allah, one who refuses temptation for Allah's sake, one who gives charity in secret, and one who remembers Allah alone and weeps.
