Black banners will come from the East, led by men like majestic ships, men of honor, whose lineages are villages, and whose names are nicknames. They will conquer the city of Damascus, and mercy will be spared from them for three hours.

Kitab al-Fitan (Nu'aym ibn Hammad)vol. 2, p. 205Ungraded

Kitab al-Fitan of Nu'aym ibn Hammad: ungraded, and weak overall. Never established on its own.

When it reached the year one hundred and twenty-nine, and the swords of the Umayyads clashed, and the donkey of the Peninsula leaped and conquered the Sham (Greater Syria), the black banners would appear in the year one hundred and twenty-nine, and the ram would appear with a people who did not pay attention to them, whose hearts were like steel, their hair down to their shoulders, and they had no pity or mercy towards their enemy, their names were nicknames, and their tribes were villages, and they were wearing clothes like the color of the dark night, leading them to the Abbas family and the weakness of their state. They kill the notables of that time until they flee from them into the wilderness, and their state will continue until the star with the tail appears, and they disagree among themselves.

After them will come the owners of the black banners, and their command and duration will prolong until the pledge of allegiance to two of them is given. When they come together, they disagree among themselves, and their disagreement will prolong until three banners are raised in the Sham (Greater Syria), and if they are raised, this is the reason for the interruption of their term. If it is read in Egypt from Abdullah Abdullah, the Commander of the Faithful, it is not long before another letter is read to them from Abdullah Abd al-Rahman, the Commander of the Faithful, and he is the ruler of the Maghreb, and he is worse than a king, and they are ruining Egypt and the Sham (Greater Syria). If their command in the Sham (Greater Syria) intensifies, the black banners and the companions of The three banners and those in them from the Maghreb against the people of the Maghreb, so they all gather against them and fight them, so the people of the three banners will prevail, and the Berbers will be cut off. Then they will fight the owners of the black banners until their order will be cut off.

I will tell you, I know why he hated it. Rather, it was revealed about a man from his family called Abd al-Ilah, or Abdullah, who descended on a river from the rivers of the East and built two cities on it. The river split a rift between them, gathering in it all the stubborn tyrants. Artat said: If a city is built on the shore of the Euphrates, then the breaks and demarcations come to you, and you disengage from your religion just as a woman abandons her kiss so that you will not refrain from humiliation, it will befall you, and if a city is built between the two rivers. In a land cut off from the land of Iraq, Al-Dahima came to you

Black banners of the Abbasids will appear until they descend on the Sham (Greater Syria), and Allah will kill at their hands every stubborn tyrant or enemy of theirs. Adam will station in their square for forty-five mornings, and seventy thousand will enter it, and their slogan there will be: “Ammah, Ammah.” Then the war will end, and their rule will last nine times out of seven, then their rule will be broken after seventy-three years.

Two banners will emerge from the Abbasids, one of which has the beginning of victory and the end of which is a burden. They will not help it, but Allah will not help it. The other, the beginning of which will be a burden and the end of which will be disbelief. They will not help it, but Allah will not help it.

These are people who come from the East alone, carrying black banners with the words “Your Covenant and Pledge of Allegiance” written on their banners, and “in us” with it. Then they broke it, and they came until they camped between Homs and Deir Mashal, and a group came out to them and they fought them in the Battle of al-Adim. Then they marched to Damascus and conquered it by force. Their motto was: “Accept, accept,” meaning Baksh Baksh. Mercy will be removed from them for three hours of the day.

If you see the black flags, stay on the ground and do not move your hands or feet. Then a people will appear who are weak and uncaring, whose hearts are like iron rods. They are the owners of the state, they do not fulfill a covenant or a covenant. They call for the truth but are not among its people. Their names are nicknames, their lineage is villages, and their hair is loose like the hair of women, until they disagree among themselves. Then Allah gives the truth to whomever He wills.

A man emerges from the peninsula and tramples on the people, and sheds blood. Then a man emerges from Khorasan after killing his brother from Banu Hashim, called Abdullah. He remains for about forty years. Then he dies and two men from his household named by the same name differ, so it becomes an epic in Aqraqufa, and they appear close to the caliph. Then it becomes a sign among the Banu al-Asfar, and a star with a tail appears, and it disappears from them and does not return to them.

Persia, I saw them in this city, sitting, huddled in circles, talking, saying: Muslims will appear on the people of this land, and Allah will open for them the treasures of its land and sea. They will be known by their quality by the length of their hair, their spears, and their clothing of silk. He will be the last king among them. They will be killed with swords. Money and abundant food will be poured on their tables, but that will not satisfy them.

A man from the people of the East comes out calling for the family of Muhammad, and he is the farthest of people from them. He sets up black signs, the first of which is victory, and the last of which is disbelief. He is followed by the vulgarity of the Arabs, the lowliest of the loyalists, the ungrateful slaves, and the starving horizons. Their faces are black, and their religion is polytheism, and most of them are uncircumcised, and do you not realize it, O Abu Abd al-Rahman? A temptation called Al-Halaqa, which destroys religion, in which the honest Arabs, the righteous loyalists, the owners of treasures, and the jurists will perish, and less than a few will be revealed.
