The prince after him is the owner of the grey-haired mule

لا تذهب الليالي والأيام حتى يجتمع أمر هذه الأمة على معاوية

Nights and days will not pass until the affairs of this nation unite against Muawiyah

إني أقاتل على حق ليقوم، ولن يقوم والأمر لهم قال: فقلت لأصحابي: ما المقام هاهنا وقد أخبرنا أن الأمر ليس لهم فاستأذناه إلى مصر، فأذن لمن شاء منا وأعطى كل رجل منا ألف درهم، وأقام معه طائفة منا

I am fighting for what is right, so that he may arise, but he will not arise, and the matter is theirs. He said: So I said to my companions: Why are we standing here? He told us that the matter is not theirs. So we asked him for permission to go to Egypt, so he permitted whoever of us wished, and he gave each man of us a thousand dirhams, and a group of us resided with him.

لعله أن يكفيها غلام من قريش وأهوى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بعصاة معه إلى منكب معاوية

Perhaps a boy from Quraysh would suffice for her, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ tempted a disobedient with him to the shoulder of Muawiyah.

يا أصحاب رسول الله، تناصحوا فإنكم إن لا تفعلوا غلبكم عليها، يعني الخلافة، مثل عمرو بن العاص، ومعاوية بن أبي سفيان

O Companions of the Messenger of Allah, seek advice from one another, for if you do not do so, you will be defeated by it, meaning the caliphate, like Amr bin Al-Aas and Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan.

والله إني لأراه كان يتصنع لها، يعني معاوية على عهد أبي بكر وعمر رضي الله عنهما، يعني للخلافة

By Allah, I see that he was faking it, meaning Muawiyah during the era of Abu Bakr and Omar, (may Allah be pleased with them), meaning for the caliphate.

عجبت من إخواننا بني أمية، إن دعوتنا دعوة المؤمنين، ودعوتهم دعوة المنافقين، وهم ينصرون علينا

I am astonished by our brothers, the Umayyads, that our call is the call of believers, and their call is the call of hypocrites, and they support us.

إن معاوية سيظهر عليكم ، قالوا: فلم نقاتل؟ قال: لا بد للناس من أمير بر أو فاجر

Muawiyah will appear before you. People must have a righteous or immoral prince

ابن الزرقاء هلاك عامة أمتي على يديه ويدي ذريته

Ibn al-Zarqa is the destruction of my entire nation at his hands and the hands of his descendants

لعن الله هذا وما في صلبه، {إلا الذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات وقليل ما هم}

May Allah curse this man and what is in his core, {except those who believe and do righteous deeds, and they are few}

لكل أمة آفة وآفة هذه الأمة بنو أمية

Every nation has a scourge, and the scourge of this nation is the Umayyads

إن لكل شيء آفة تفسده، وآفة هذا الدين بنو أمية

Everything has a scourge that spoils it, and the scourge of this religion is the Umayyads

إذا بلغت بنو أمية أربعين اتخذوا عباد الله خولا، ومال الله نحلا، وكتاب الله دغلا

When the Umayyads reached forty, they took the servants of Allah as horses, Allah’s wealth as trees, and the Book of Allah as jungle.

هلاك هذه الأمة على يدي أغيلمة من قريش حدثنا، قال حماد، وأخبرني عمار بن أبي عمار، سمع أبا هريرة يقول: يكون هلاك هذه الأمة على يدي أغيلمة من قريش

The destruction of this nation at the hands of Aghailamah from Quraish. Hammad told us, and Ammar bin Abi Ammar told me. He heard Abu Hurairah say: The destruction of this nation will be at the hands of Aghaylamah from Quraish.

إذا بلغ بنو الحكم ثلاثين رجلا اتخذوا مال الله تعالى بينهم دولا، وعباده خولا، وكتابه دغلا ؟ قال ابن عباس: اللهم نعم، ثم إن مروان رد عبد الملك إلى معاوية في حاجته، فلما أدبر عبد الملك قال معاوية: أنشدك بالله يا ابن عباس، أما تعلم أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ذكر هذا فقال: أبو الجبابرة الأربعة ؟ قال: اللهم نعم، فعند ذلك ادعى معاوية زياد بن عبيد

If the sons of al-Hakam reached thirty men, they would take the wealth of Allah Almighty among them as countries, and His servants as horses, and His Book as jungles? Ibn Abbas said: By Allah, yes. Then Marwan returned Abd al-Malik to Muawiyah in his need, and when Abd al-Malik turned away, Muawiyah said: I adjure you by Allah, O Ibn Abbas. Do you not know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned this and said: The father of the four titans? He said: Oh Allah, yes, then Muawiyah claimed Ziyad bin Ubaid

سيلي أموركم غلمان من قريش، يكونون بمنزلة العجاجيل المذنبة على المذاود، إن تركت أكلت ما بين أيديها، وإن انفلتت نطحت من أدركت

Your affairs will be handled by young men from the Quraysh, who will be like the heifers sitting on the stalls. If they let go, they will eat what is in front of them, and if they escape, they will gore whoever they catch.

إن أهل بيتي سيلقون من أمتي بعدي قتلا شديدا، وإن أشد قومنا لنا بغضا بنو أمية، وبنو المغيرة من بني مخزوم

The people of my household will be severely killed by my nation after me, and the people who hate us the most are the Banu Umayyah and the Banu Mughirah from the Banu Makhzum.

تكتم علي حتى أموت؟ قال: قلت: نعم، قال: بنو أمية، وثقيف، وبنو حنفية

Hush me until I die? Banu Umayyad, Thaqif, and Banu Hanafiya

يملك من بني أمية أربعة من صلب رجل: سليمان بن عبد الملك، وهشام، ويزيد، والوليد

Four of the Umayyad tribe were ruled by one man: Suleiman bin Abdul Malik, Hisham, Yazid, and Al-Walid

سيكون رجل اسمه الوليد يسد به ركن من أركان جهنم، أو زاوية من زواياها

There will be a man named Al-Walid who will fill any corner of Hell, or one of its corners

إذا كان على الناس خليفة أحول فإن قدرت أن تخرج من مصر إلى الشام فافعل، وذلك قبل خلافة هشام
